Upload the wrong shape and the app crops it for you — usually cutting off a head, a product or your text. Here are the sizes to use on each network, and a quick way to make them all from one photo.
Instagram
| Format | Size (px) | Ratio |
| Portrait post (recommended) | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
| Square post | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
| Landscape post | 1080 × 566 | 1.91:1 |
| Story / Reel | 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 |
| Profile photo | 320 × 320 | 1:1 (shown as circle) |
Tip: portrait posts take up the most space in the feed, so they tend to get noticed more than square ones.

Resize one photo for every platform
- Open the Social Media Image Resizer and drop your photo.
- Pick the network and format — the preview shows exactly what will be kept.
- Drag the photo to frame the subject, or choose Fit + blur to keep the whole picture.
- Download one size, or press Download all sizes (ZIP) to get every format for that network.
Five mistakes that make posts look amateur
- Text near the edges of Stories and Reels — the app's buttons and captions cover the top and bottom.
- Uploading tiny images — they get stretched and look soft. Start with a photo at least as big as the target size.
- Huge PNG photos — save photos as JPG; use PNG only for graphics with text. Shrink big files with the image compressor.
- Faces off-centre in profile pictures — they're shown as circles, so the corners disappear.
- Wrong link preview — check how your page will look when shared with the Open Graph preview tool.
