Remove backgrounds without Photoshop or uploads
Most background removers send your photo to their servers. This one downloads a small AI model into your browser and does the cut-out on your own device. It is ideal for product photos for Amazon, Meesho or Shopify, profile pictures, stickers, thumbnails and passport-style photos that need a plain white background.
How to remove a background
- Drop a JPG, PNG or WEBP photo above.
- Press Remove background. The first run downloads the AI model (about 55 MB), which can take 10–60 seconds on a slow connection. After that it is much faster.
- Keep it transparent or pick white, black or any colour, then download the PNG.
Automatic or "remove a colour"?
Automatic (AI) finds the main subject — a person, animal or object — even on a busy background. Remove a colour is better for logos, signatures and graphics on a flat background: click the colour to remove and adjust the tolerance until the edges look clean. It also works offline.
Tips for clean cut-outs
- Use a photo where the subject is in focus and stands out from the background.
- Hair and fur work best in good lighting against a plain wall.
- For a passport photo, choose the White background, then crop with the image cropper using the 35×45 preset.
- For marketplace listings, compress the final PNG with the image compressor.
Frequently asked questions
Is this background remover free?
Yes. There are no credits, no sign-up and no watermark, and you get the full-resolution image.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser and the photo is processed on your device. The image itself is never sent to a server.
Why is the first run slow?
The first time, your browser downloads the AI model (about 55 MB). It is cached afterwards, so later photos are processed much faster.
Can I add a white background instead of transparent?
Yes. After the background is removed, choose White, Black, Blue or any custom colour and download.
It did not work on my phone. What can I do?
Very old phones may not have enough memory for the AI model. Try a smaller photo, use a computer, or use the Remove a colour mode for simple backgrounds.
